Theatre + Film
Alongside a career as a singer/songwriter, Kaeley Jade Wiebe is an actor, writer, designer, and director based out of amiskwaciwâskahikan/Edmonton, Alberta.
Kaeley has worked as an actor in theatre, film and voiceover projects across Alberta. She recently made her professional directing debut with Alberta Musical Theatre Company’s online production of One-Person Hansel and Gretel, and trained in sound design and composition through the Citadel Theatre’s RBC Horizon Emerging Artists Program. Kaeley has a BFA in Acting from the University of Alberta, and she is most drawn to works that centre Indigenous and women/gender-diverse stories. A passionate supporter of new play development, Kaeley is also frequently involved in the creation and workshopping of new works.
Two-Headed/Half-Hearted, a prairie-gothic song-cycle sung by two musical narrators, showcased Kaeley’s multidisciplinary talents as a composer, sound designer, and actor. Winner of the Summer Solstice Indigenous Music Award for “Music in the Arts” and Finalist for the Gwen Pharis Ringwood Award for Drama, Two-Headed/Half-Hearted interweaves stories and songs from the lives of fictional conjoined twins Juno and Venus Hollis with those of other famous conjoined twins through history. With book by Trevor Schmidt and music by Kaeley Jade Wiebe, Two-Headed/Half-Hearted is a tale of isolation, mythology, family, and yearning, and first premiered at Northern Light Theatre in 2022.

“By turns charming, funny, horrifying, sweet and sad, Northern Light Theatre’s Two-Headed/Half-Hearted pulls on emotional muscles you never thought you had.”
“Two-Headed/Half-Hearted kind of sneaks up on you at this threshhold moment in our history, when we miss human connection and long for it and fear it. It’s theatrically sly and piquant, and it breaks your own heart a little too.”
